DomainJava.com – Luton vs Norwich prediction in the Championship match, In their 25th match of the Championship season, Luton Town will hope to distance themselves from the relegation zone when they host Norwich City at Kenilworth Road on Wednesday.

The hosts have 25 points and are sixth from bottom in 19th position, four points clear and three places clear of the league’s top three relegation spots, while the visitors are in 12th position with 30 points from 24 matchdays and have drawn 1 -1 with Queens Park Rangers on December 29.

Luton were beaten 2-1 by Swansea City on Sunday, a game in which they opened the scoring after five minutes but then faced six big chances and conceded the winner in the 91st minute.

Coach Rob Edwards could point to the fact his side were down to 10 men in the 68th minute as a mitigating factor in his side’s defeat, but his side have been poor defensively for some time considering they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight games.

The Hatters have conceded 41 goals and conceded 26 times in the Championship this season, and this is the second worst defense in the division and the seventh worst attack.

Luton’s recent form has been poor, with the club having been beaten in three of their last four games, winning just two in their last eight games and losing 4-2 against Norwich on 30 November.

It is worth noting that Edwards’ side are still strong at home, winning four and drawing two of their last six games at Kenilworth Road.

Visiting Norwich will probably be confused that they failed to take all three points against QPR considering they generated more than two xG, registered 14 shots from inside the area and prevented their opponents from producing a shot on target.

After the draw, manager Johannes Hoff Thorup highlighted set-piece situations as an area for his players to improve, saying: “Since the last international break, around 40 percent of the goals we have received have come from set-piece situations and we have to be better at that. That.”

Thorup’s side have conceded 11 goals from set-pieces this season – the second most in the Championship – and only four teams have conceded more from set-pieces.

The Canaries have been in poor form of late having lost three, drawn two and won just one of their last six games, conceding nine goals and scoring five in that period.

Norwich are winless in their last eight away games, losing four of their last six away games.

Luton will of course be without midfielder Liam Walsh and full-back Joseph Johnson, who are both suspended due to red cards, as well as centre-back Teden Mengi until the end of April due to injury.

Victor Moses is likely to replace Johnson, and given defenders Alfie Doughty, Reece Burke and Tom Lockyer are also absent, Moses is expected to be joined in the back line by Thomas Holmes, Mark McGuinness, Amari’i Bell and Tahith Chong.

Tom Krauss, Jordan Clark and Marvelous Nakamba could feature in midfield, although Shandon Baptiste will not be available until early January due to a calf injury.

As for Norwich, they will be without winger Christian Fassnacht and striker Joshua Sargent, and their absence could mean Ante Crnac will be flanked by Oscar Schwartau and Borja Sainz.

Midfielders Gabriel Forsyth and Liam Gibbs have been ruled out until the middle of next month with knee and hamstring injuries, while Jacob Lungi Sorensen is reportedly a doubt.

If Sorensen is not declared fit for Wednesday’s match, then Anis Ben Slimane, Kenny McLean and Marcelino Nunez are likely to be given places in the starting XI.
