DomainJava .COM – PSSI officially announced the dismissal of Shin Tae-yong as coach of the Indonesian national team on Monday, January 6 2025. Coach STY also conveyed his final message.
The decision to dismiss STY was taken after evaluating the performance of the national team, especially after the poor results in the 2024 AFF Cup.
According to the General Chair of PSSI, Erick Thohir, this decision was taken for the good of the national team.
“What we are doing today is for the good of the national team,” said Erick Thohir.
STY has also received a letter of dismissal which was given by the Manager of the Indonesian National Team, Sumardji.
“Mr Mardji met Coach STY this morning and Coach STY has received his correspondence,” said Erick Thohir.
On this occasion, Erick also expressed his gratitude for the services and achievements provided by the coach from South Korea.
“Later there will be another process regarding our relationship which has ended, I thank you once again,” he said
According to Sumardji, Coach STY has also received this decision from PSSI.

“In principle, coach Shin accepted the termination of the employment relationship between PSSI and Shin Tae-yong,” explained Sumardji.
Coach STY also gave a farewell sentence to PSSI and it was delivered by Mr. Sumardji.
“Coach Shin is also grateful for the trust given to him for five years. “And the message is that the National Team will qualify for the World Cup,” said Sumardji, who delivered the words from STY.
Shin Tae-yong has been the coach of the Indonesian national team since 2020 and has led the team in 57 competitive matches, with 26 wins, 14 draws and 17 losses.
In fact, Coach STY’s contract with the Indonesian national team ends in June 2027 but PSSI is taking different actions.
