DomainJava.com – Inter Milan vs AC Milan prediction in the Italian Supercoppa match, Meeting in a tense Derby della Madonnina on Monday night, Inter Milan and AC Milan will compete to claim the Italian Super Cup.

While Inter are aiming to lift the trophy for the fourth season in a row, Milan can match their eight super cup wins by beating their old foes for the second time this season.

Although the two clubs have a long and successful history, Monday’s match will be the fourth final between the two Milan giants, after the 1977 Italian Cup and two recent Super Cups.

The first Milan derby in an Italian super cup competition took place in August 2011, when the Rossoneri won 2–1; then, two years ago, their rivals the Nerazzurri won 3-0 in Saudi Arabia.

The two clubs now meet again in Riyadh, with reigning champions Inter qualifying for the four-team format – first introduced last year – by being crowned Serie A champions ahead of Milan last season.

On Thursday, they knocked out Lombardy neighbors Atalanta BC in the first semi-final, with Denzel Dumfries’ second-half brace continuing their dominance over La Dea, who are one point behind in the league standings – both behind new leaders Napoli.

Now, the Nerazzurri are just 90 minutes away from claiming some silverware by beating their city rivals, which would be the perfect way to start a promising year.

An unprecedented quadruple is their goal in 2025, as Inter have not only qualified for the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia and performed well in the Champions League, but are also in good shape to retain the Scudetto.

Simone Inzaghi’s side travel east on the back of five consecutive league wins – with an average of more than three goals per game – after beating Cagliari in their last game of 2024.

Inzaghi, who is seeking the 10th trophy of his managerial career, has secured four Supercoppas – two with Lazio and two for his current club – and he would surpass coaching legends Marcello Lippi and Fabio Capello for the most wins in the competition if he wins on Monday .

Precedent is certainly on his side, as in the previous 36 editions of the Supercoppa Italiana, more than two-thirds have been won by the Serie A champions.

Since their 2-1 league win in September – when Matteo Gabbia was their unlikely hero, with a late winner ending a losing streak against Inter – Milan have fallen further behind their arch-rivals in the standings.

In the months following the success at San Siro, the Rossoneri slowly drifted back 13 points, and with Champions League qualification at stake, they sacked the struggling Paulo Fonseca just after Christmas.

Fonseca’s fellow Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao – whose successful spell at Porto ended in bitterness – enjoyed a lucky break in his dressing-room debut, as his new team beat Juventus in Friday’s second semi-final.

After a lackluster first-half display, Milan equalized when Christian Pulisic earned and then converted a penalty, before a poor deflection resulted in their second goal less than five minutes later.

That ultimately proved enough for Conceicao to claim victory over a Juve side that would have featured his son Francisco Conceicao, who was forced to withdraw due to injury shortly before kick-off.

Another reunion will take place on Monday evening, when the former Inter man leads Milan at Al-Awwal Park, aiming to beat his former club.

Few coaches can say they have won a trophy for their club within a week of being appointed, but success for the red-and-black club from Italy’s second city will make it happen for Conceicao senior.

After he was withdrawn at half-time in the semi-final win over Atalanta, Inter’s top scorer Marcus Thuram may miss the Supercoppa decider, with a thigh injury raising serious doubts over his participation.

Mehdi Taremi replaced Thuram on Thursday evening, and in the French striker’s absence, he will compete with Joaquin Correa and Marko Arnautovic to partner captain Lautaro Martinez up front.

Simone Inzaghi will also be without defensive duo Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi – both of whom were left at home – but should have other players to choose from.

Meanwhile, Sergio Conceicao’s first XI as Milan head coach features three changes from Paulo Fonseca’s last choice, and that trio may be retained on Monday.

Recalled from the wild, Fikayo Tomori played at centre-back; Ismael Bennacer made his first start after a four-month absence; Christian Pulisic also returned from injury and scored the equaliser.

Goalkeeper Mike Maignan was named captain, and he will again play behind the back four, but the rest of the Rossoneri line-up remains uncertain.

Rafael Leao could recover to play in the final, while Tammy Abraham and Alvaro Morata were paired during the second half against Juventus; Conceicao has hinted it might happen again – although, he may be more careful against Inter.(ed)
