DomainJava .COM – Patrick Kluivert is said to be the new coach of the Indonesian National Team replacing Shin Tae-yong who was recently dismissed by PSSI.
Although PSSI has not provided an official statement, European transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, confirmed that Kluivert has signed a two-year contract with the option of a two-year extension.
“Patrick Kluivert has signed a contract as head coach of the Indonesian National Team. “The deal is complete,” wrote Romano on his Twitter account.
“He is contracted for two years with an option to extend for two years. It will be introduced in Indonesia on January 12.”

The Dutch coach is scheduled to be introduced in Indonesia on January 12.
However, Kluivert’s track record off the field sparked the attention of the Indonesian football public.
He was caught in a gambling addiction problem when he coached the FC Twente youth team between 2011 and 2013.
This problem was not even known to the club or the main coach at that time, Michel Jansen. This information surprised many people, considering that at that time Kluivert was coaching several talented players, including Joey Pelupessy and Quincy Promes.
Joey Pelupessy, a player of Indonesian descent from Maluku, once trained under Kluivert.
Even though he was interested in becoming an Indonesian citizen, his status has not been processed until now.
This player, who has experience at European clubs such as FC Twente, Sheffield Wednesday and FC Groningen, is now 30 years old.
According to FC Twente spokesperson at the time, Richard Peters, the club had absolutely no knowledge of Kluivert’s gambling addiction.
“When he was the under-23 coach, he didn’t tell anyone,” Peters said.
“I’m not the only one who doesn’t know about it, because what I heard and read was really surprising,” he said.
Kluivert is known to have worked as FC Twente’s academy coach from 2011 to 2013. In the same year, Joey was promoted from the FC Twente u-17 team.
Even though Kluivert’s past controversy is in the spotlight, many hopes are pinned on him to take the Indonesian national team further on the international stage.
