DomainJava .COM – Shin Tae-yong has officially left the Indonesian National Team coaching chair, Monday (6/1/2025).

Coach STY was fired by PSSI and a new coach will be announced on January 12 2025.

Of course, with the decision to dismiss PSSI, several Indonesian national team players made touching farewell messages on their personal social media accounts.

There are Jay Idzes, Marselino, Ernando and many more.

However, there were also several national team players who did not say goodbye to STY. I don’t know if it’s because they don’t get along and don’t like Shin Tae Yong’s strategy or whatever the reason is, but some of the following players didn’t say a word.

  1. Sandy Walsh
  2. MeesHilgers
  3. Eliano Reijnders
  4. Shayne Pattynama
  5. Calvin Verdonk
  6. Elkan Baggot

It is possible that the 5 names above could have spoken directly to Shin Tae Yong in private and not announced it on social media.

However, for Elkan Baggot, it seems like he has a bit of a feud with STY which means he might not even say goodbye to STY.

Elkan Baggott defended the Indonesian national team for four years (2020-2024), starting from U-20 to senior. However, since refusing Shin Tae-yong’s call when the Indonesian U-23 National Team faced Guinea U-23, Elkan Baggott was never included again by the tactician from South Korea.

So it is possible that Elkan Baggot could be called back to strengthen the national team if the new coach chooses him.

There is a lot of news circulating that the new Indonesian national team coach is a coach from the Netherlands, namely, Patirck Kluivert.

However, PSSI has not made an official announcement yet, so let’s just wait for the inauguration on January 12.
