The match, which was watched by 81,365 spectators, was intense from the start.

Dortmund, which was currently hit by a defensive crisis, immediately conceded two goals in the first seven minutes.

Leverkusen opened the scoring just 25 seconds after kick-off with a quick goal from Tella, which was followed by a second goal from Patrik Schick in the seventh minute, taking advantage of Dortmund’s back line.

Behind 0-2, Dortmund tried to recover and scored a goal back through Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in the 12th minute, which gave new hope to the home team.

However, these hopes faded again when Schick scored his second goal in the 19th minute, widening Leverkusen’s lead to 3-1.

Even though Dortmund tried hard to create chances, especially through Guirassy and Adeyemi, Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky was outstanding with a number of crucial saves.

Entering the second half, Dortmund increased the intensity of their attacks, but Leverkusen’s solid defense was still able to stifle every attempt from the home team.
