DomainJava.com – Prediction for Monza vs Fiorentina in the match. After starting to decline in the Serie A standings, Fiorentina will try to recover by beating Monza who are in the bottom position when the two teams meet on Monday.

The Viola lost heavily at home in their first match of 2025, while their ailing hosts started the New Year with a poor finish.

After eight straight wins in the Italian top flight, Fiorentina have lost three of their last four Serie A games – drawing one – and conceding eight goals.

Most recently, they were beaten 3-0 by title challengers Napoli in Florence, which saw them suffer back-to-back league defeats at the Stadio Franchi for the first time since late 2023.

While the Viola still have a chance of finishing in the top four, their form has clearly dipped, so Raffaele Palladino will be eager to make the most of two decent games in the space of a week.

Before hosting slumping Torino next weekend, Fiorentina should visit Monza, where Palladino began his senior coaching career.

He coached Brianzoli to 70 Serie A games, twice keeping them in the top flight before his impressive performances caught the attention of clubs higher up the Calcio food chain.

Now, he returns to a place full of fond memories, hoping to pick up maximum points and deepen his old club's misery.

After a dramatic 2-2 draw in their reverse fixture in September, Monza have faced Fiorentina seven times between Serie A and Serie B, winning just once.

Only a stoppage-time equalizer from Robin Gosens denied them victory when the sides met in Tuscany earlier this season, and points have been hard to come by for the Biancorossi since.

Despite the tough decision to sack Palladino's replacement, Alessandro Nesta, and bring in Salvatore Bocchetti last month, the squad failed to respond to the new faces in the dressing room, remaining slumped at the bottom of the table.

After ending 2024 with a painful 2-1 defeat to Parma, when conceding a late goal again cost them dearly, the Brianza-based club were beaten by another relegation rival in the last game.

Despite taking the lead through a Gianluca Caprari penalty early in the match, Bocchetti's side lost that lead, and when Danilo D'Ambrosio was later sent off, they were unable to recover and ultimately lost 2–1.

Including Monza's elimination from the Coppa Italia at the start of December, they have now lost all of their last six games, leaving them to struggle during the second half of the season.

History suggests they may already be doomed: over the past 20 years, only two of the 13 teams to score 10 points or less in the first half have survived – Crotone in 2017 and Cagliari in 2008.

Fiorentina should have a full squad available on Monday evening, including new signing Michael Folorunsho, who recently joined on loan from Napoli. New teammate Nicolas Valentini should be a substitute.

Raffaele Palladino could switch back to his successful 4-2-3-1 formation after opting for a three-man defense to face Napoli, with Albert Gudmundsson – now recovered from an ankle problem – and former Monza star Andrea Colpani both recalled.

Sure to start up front, Moise Kean is the Viola's top scorer in all competitions with 15 goals this season.

Meanwhile, the Monza squad has managed just 17 goals in Serie A so far, and it remains to be seen whether Milan Djuric will return to lead the hosts' attack on Monday.

Otherwise, Dany Mota and Gianluca Caprari – the latter of whom has scored five top-flight goals against Fiorentina – will spearhead a less than optimal front line, perhaps supported by Daniel Maldini.

Georgios Kyriakopoulos could return after missing two games due to injury, and Pablo Mari returns from suspension; However, Danilo D'Ambrosio has to serve a ban from playing and midfielder duo Matteo Pessina and Roberto Gagliardini are still absent.(ed)
