DomainJava .COM -Manchester United managed to advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating Arsenal 5-3 on penalties at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday night, 12 January 2025.
The two teams played out a 1-1 draw until the end of extra time, with Bruno Fernandes’ goal for Manchester United answered by Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhães in the second half of normal time.
MU goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir, performed brilliantly and became the main hero. Bayindir managed to save Martin’s spot kick to keep the score at 1-1, then he also blocked Kai Havertz’s spot kick during the decisive shootout.
Manchester United coach, Ruben Amorim, gave high praise to his team for the victory, especially because they managed to beat Arsenal at their home ground.
“Sometimes, it’s not just tactics that are important, but also the attitude to compete in every situation,” said Amorim, as reported by the BBC.
“We deserved to win, although Arsenal did not deserve to lose, but we showed extraordinary determination.”
Amorim added that although his team did not have much of the ball, they managed to control the game without the ball, showing mental strength and solid teamwork from the start.
On the other hand, Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta, expressed his appreciation to Ruben Amorim and the Manchester United team.
