DomainJava .COM – Newcastle United managed to beat hosts Manchester United (MU) with a score of 2-0 in the Premier League match at Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester, on Tuesday (31/12/2024) early morning WIB.
Quoting several sources, in this match the Magpies won through Alexander Isak's goal in the fourth minute, followed by Joelinton's goal which doubled the lead in the 19th minute.
This victory brought Newcastle to fifth place in the standings with 32 points, while MU is still mired in 14th position with 22 points.
This is Newcastle's second win at MU's home ground since 1972.
For MU, this defeat marked the third consecutive home defeat in more than 60 years.
Newcastle caused a surprise with Isak's 12th league goal, courtesy of an assist from Anthony Gordon in the fourth minute. Joelinton then doubled his team's lead by using a pass from Gordon as well.
MU coach, Ruben Amorim, made a change in the 33rd minute, replacing Joshua Zirkzee with Kobbie Mainoo, while Marcus Rashford was withdrawn to the bench.
However, this change did not bring luck to MU. MU still lost to Newcastle United.
