DomainJava.com – Frankfurt vs Freiburg prediction in Bundesliga match, Eintracht Frankfurt will hope to continue their winning streak into 2025 when they welcome Freiburg to Deutsche Bank Park on Tuesday in their 17th Bundesliga match of the season.
The hosts beat St Pauli 1-0 on Saturday and are in third place with 30 points, while Freiburg won 3-2 over Holstein Kiel on January 11 and are in sixth place with 27 points after 16 matchdays.
The Eagles were perhaps lucky to win against St Pauli without conceding considering they faced five big chances and 2.25 xG, but winner Omar Marmoush finished the game superbly from inside the box in the 32nd minute to give his team all three points.
Goalkeeper Kevin Trapp insisted his side still had a lot of work to do despite the win, saying: “1-0 sounds almost perfect, but if you look at the 90 minutes, of course there are still some things we need to improve on. We let ourselves fall too far behind on goals and barely got ahead in the second half.”
Manager Dino Toppmoller's side have scored 36 goals and conceded 23 in the Bundesliga this season, and this is the third-best offensive record and seventh-best defensive record in the premier league.
Toppmoller will be relieved with the latest win considering the club had lost four and drawn one of its five games before Saturday's game.
While the Eagles have drawn just one and lost once in their last two home games, they managed to pick up wins in their previous five games at Deutsche Bank Park and have lost just once at their home stadium in their last 12 games.
Freiburg's opponents could also be considered lucky to have managed to get three points last weekend considering they didn't create any big chances, although they were strong defensively until Holstein Kiel scored their first goal in the 85th minute.
Captain Christian Gunter said after the match that the Breisgau-Brasilianer should not allow themselves to be forced back but reflected on the season positively, telling reporters: “We allowed ourselves to get pushed at the back and have no more order. Luckily, we managed to get some time, but it shouldn't have happened to us.
“Basically, it's incredible for us that we have 27 points after 16 games. We want to keep going there.”
Coach Julian Schuster will be pleased as his side have scored seven goals in their last two games, although he will be concerned as they have conceded nine goals in that period.
Freiburg have been inconsistent in recent weeks considering they have won two, lost two and drawn one in their last five matches.
The visitors' away form has been poor, with the club failing to win any of their last six away games, losing four and drawing two in that span.
Eintracht Frankfurt will only be without centre-back Aurele Amenda, who is out until mid-February, and this could mean that Nnamdi Collins, Arthur Theate and Robin Koch will start in the back three.
Mario Gotze was in the XI last time out, but it wouldn't be a surprise if Oscar Hojlund comes into the starting line-up in midfield alongside Hugo Larsson and Ellyes Skhiri after featuring for 20 minutes on Saturday.
Marmoush will certainly play on two front lines, and he will likely partner Hugo Ekitike.
As for Freiburg, they will be without midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, so expect Maximilian Eggestein to play as a double pivot alongside Merlin Rohl.
Centre-back Philipp Lienhart is doubtful due to illness, and if he does not recover in time for Tuesday's match, Maximilian Rosenfelder may be partnered by Matthias Ginter in defence.
