DomainJava .COM – PSSI officially announced Patrick Kluivert as the new coach of the Indonesian national team via the official PSSI website Wednesday (8/1/2025) evening WIB.
This inauguration is faster than PSSI’s promise to make an announcement on January 12 2025.
Even though currently there is still a lot of confusing news regarding Patrick Kluivert’s coaching which is considered not good by netizens.
However, PSSI acted quickly without looking at and considering netizens’ complaints.
The Dutch coach has a two-year contract from 2025 to 2027 with an option to extend the contract.
The former Barcelona and Ajax bomber will be assisted by a number of assistant coaches from the Netherlands such as Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat. Apart from that, there will be two local Indonesian coaches who will be assistant coaches.
Kluivert is a legendary player for the Dutch team. In his era he was the best striker in the Netherlands as well as a number of top European clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam, AC Milan, Barcelona, CF Valencia, Newcastle United, PSV and Lille.

After retiring as a player in 2008, he started his career as a coach and was an assistant coach at AZ Alkmaar, NEC Nigmegen, Brisbane Roar, and coach of Jong Twente
Before going to Indonesia, he was the coach of the Turkish club, Adana Demirspor. Apart from that, Kluivert also served as FC Barcelona academy director.
Kluivert is planned to come to Indonesia on Saturday (11/1) and the next day will be officially introduced to the public.
Kluivert’s debut will begin when Indonesia plays Australia at the Sydney Football Stadium on March 20 and Bahrain at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta on March 25.
This match is a continuation match for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Group C in the Asian zone.
