Real Madrid made history by becoming the first team to reach 5,000 points in La Liga, after recording a dramatic 2-1 victory over Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium on Saturday (4/1/2025).
Apart from that, Madrid also set a record with 6,526 goals, 1,833 wins and 36 La Liga titles throughout their history.
The teams closest to achieving this are Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and Valencia.
Before making history, Real Madrid had to play a match which was postponed due to flooding, in the 12th week of La Liga this season.
In that match, Madrid started poorly, until they trailed 0-1 in the first half after Hugo Duro’s goal.
Valencia’s goal in the first half in the 27th minute was considered controversial and drew strong protests from Madrid players.
However, the referee still approved the goal.
